About

Faith, family, technology, and everyday life.

I am 50 years old, I hope to read the Bible daily, and I have built this site around the things that matter to me: My famile, Scripture, media, writing, tools, family, and useful links.

This page is meant to be personal and honest — a place to share who I am, what I value, what I have been through, and what I am still learning.

A quick snapshot

I love Bible study, technology, useful tools, and meaningful time with the people I care about.

My life also includes real challenges — physical pain, memory issues, bipolar disorder, and the ups and downs that come with all of that — so I wanted this page to reflect both gratitude and honesty.

More about me

The best About pages usually start with a clear summary, use plain language, and organize the story into readable sections instead of one long block of text.

How I came to Know Jesus

Over a period of 6 months, Jesus drew me to Himself for salvation, and on February 10th, 2000, I accepted Christ, and my life was forever changed.

In 2002, I got baptized in the Holy Spirit, as I was helped by Michael Massa, a Pastor. Now I am still trying to make Him Lord.

I now speak in tongues, heal people of active pain, move in Word of Knowledge, and am Office of Teacher. (1 Corinthians 12:8-11; Ephesians 4:11)

The below is the right way to come to know Jesus: Repent --> believe --> receive.

Acts 2:38: Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Repentance: This means turning away from a life of sin and self-reliance, and turning toward God, expecting Him to live a holy life through Jesus' death, burial and resurrection — and then have access to the Baptism of the Holy Spirit either at salvation, or thereafter, depending on God's timing.

Water Baptism in the Name of Jesus: This is the outward action. It is a public declaration of faith by way of water baptism, symbolizing the washing away of sins and the believer's identification with Christ’s death and resurrection.

The Gift of the Holy Spirit (Divine Power): This is God's part. It refers to the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, received by speaking in tongues (even when some never speak in tongues again), which happens when Jesus seals a believer in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible shows that Jesus is the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit, in all four Gospel books:

  • Matthew 3:11 - I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
  • Mark 1:8 - I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.
  • Luke 3:16 - John answered, saying to all, I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
  • John 1:33 - I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

Bible reading and study

I try to read the Bible daily. I have an account with Logos and around 1100 books that I can either ask AI questions about or read one by one.

In the last 12 months, I have read the whole Bible once, the New Testament around four times, and John chapters 14 through 17 more than seven times.

Daily life

My favorite number is 127, and my license plate on my 2018 Honda Accord Sport is “JAKE 127”.

I have one daughter, Destiny, who is 32, a son-in-law, Luis, who is 33, and two grandkids: Sebastian, who is 6, and Elias, who is 4.

The people I love

I eat out with my co-worker Tim once a week, usually on Friday or Saturday evening, and I try to eat with Destiny, my only daughter, and her two sons, Sebastian and Elias, every other Saturday.

I also have one sibling, Joe. Joe helps by paying my bills through my bank account so that if I have a manic episode, things can still stay stable.

Programming and SharePoint

I was a computer programmer from 1998 to 2021. After that, I switched over to SharePoint to help with a migration from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint Online at my company, The Exchange (AAFES).

I tried to return to programming, but I could not find a suitable position, so I am still working with SharePoint today as a SharePoint Administrator.

I enjoy technology in general, especially cool electronic gadgets, and I still care a lot about building useful "toys" on this website.

Physical and mental health

I have a bad back, which keeps me from standing still for very long, and I am meeting with a doctor to see what can be done to help with the pain.

I also have memory challenges because of a head injury and medications that affect both short-term and long-term memory.

I have bipolar disorder and had many manic episodes between 2003 and 2020, plus one week-long “Facebook Video” manic episode in 2025. Lately, I think I may be moving into depression, and I am considering seeing a psychologist about some of these things.

Things I enjoy

Before both hips were replaced, I skateboarded, rode mountain bikes, and played tennis.

Even now, I still enjoy learning, tinkering with technology, building pages like this site, and reflecting on the patterns and details that show up in life.

A few milestones

About pages work best when they give readers a simple path through a person’s story instead of making them dig through a wall of text. A short timeline helps with that.
